Whose Voice Is Inside Your Head?
"Perhaps not every voice you hear belongs to you."
Most of us believe the voice inside our head is our own.
It comments on our choices.
Questions our decisions.
Warns us against taking risks.
Tells us when we've done well.
Or reminds us when we've fallen short.
It feels so familiar that we rarely stop to ask where it came from.
But listen closely.
Whose words are they?
Are they your own?
Or do they echo the voices of parents, teachers, partners, friends or a society that taught you who you should be?
"You're not good enough."
"Don't make a fool of yourself."
"You'll never succeed."
"People like us don't do things like that."
Or perhaps they're kinder.
"Work hard."
"Always put others first."
"Don't disappoint people."
Even the loving voices we've inherited deserve to be questioned.
Not because they were wrong.
But because they may no longer be true for the person you've become.
The challenge isn't to silence every voice.
The challenge is to recognise which ones deserve your attention and which ones are simply echoes from another time.

Over time, another voice begins to emerge.
Quieter.
Gentler.
Less interested in judgement.
More interested in truth.
Perhaps that voice has been there all along, patiently waiting to be heard beneath the noise.
