Who decided who you should become?

"Perhaps the person you've spent your life trying to become was imagined long before you had the chance to choose."
Long before we learn to make our own decisions, the world begins making them for us.
Our parents teach us what is acceptable.
Our schools reward certain qualities and discourage others.
Our culture tells us what success looks like.
Our friends teach us how to belong.
None of this is done with bad intentions. In fact, much of it comes from love, protection and the hope that we will find our place in the world.
Yet, little by little, we begin to collect expectations that are mistaken for identity.
Be responsible.
Don't be too emotional.
Be strong.
Be successful.
Don't disappoint people.
Fit in.
Stand out.
Somehow, we spend years trying to satisfy voices that were never truly our own.
The greatest tragedy isn't that other people influence us.
Influence is part of being human.
The tragedy is forgetting that influence is not the same as identity.
Many of us reach adulthood wearing a version of ourselves that has been carefully assembled from expectation, approval, fear and habit. We become so accustomed to playing the role that we stop asking whether it still fits.
At The Naked Frog, we don't ask you to reject your past or blame those who helped shape you. Every influence has contributed to the person you are today.
Instead, we invite a different question.
If all those expectations were gently placed to one side...
Who remains?
Not the version of you that seeks approval.
Not the version trying to avoid rejection.
Not the version performing for the world.
But the quieter, more authentic self that has been patiently waiting beneath it all.
The Road to Your True Self is not about becoming someone new.
It is about finding the courage to stop pretending to be someone else.
A Question to Carry With You
If nobody had ever told you who you should be, who do you sense you might have become?
If this question stays with you, perhaps it's time to keep walking.
