How much of your life did you choose?

"Perhaps more of your life was inherited than intentionally created."
Most of us like to believe we are living lives of our own making.
We choose our careers.
Our relationships.
Our homes.
Our routines.
Our ambitions.
But every now and then, life presents us with an uncomfortable question.
How much of it did you actually choose?
How many of your decisions were truly yours?
And how many simply felt like the obvious thing to do?
Without realising it, we inherit far more than our family name or our eye colour.
We inherit expectations.
Definitions of success.
Ideas about love.
Attitudes towards money.
Beliefs about happiness.
Even the pace at which we think life should unfold.
By the time we're old enough to make our own choices, many of the most important decisions have already been quietly shaped by years of conditioning.
This doesn't mean your life has been false.
Nor does it mean you've somehow made the wrong choices.
It simply invites a moment of honest curiosity.
If nobody had handed you a script...
Would you still be living this life?
The purpose of asking that question isn't to reject everything you've built.
Some of what you've chosen may still be deeply aligned with who you are.
Some of it may no longer be.
The challenge is finding the courage to tell the difference.
At The Naked Frog, we don't believe freedom comes from abandoning your life.
We believe it begins by becoming conscious of it.
Only then can you distinguish between the life you've inherited and the life you're intentionally choosing to create.
Perhaps the greatest act of freedom isn't changing everything.
Perhaps it's choosing, for the first time, with open eyes.
A Question to Carry With You
If you could quietly set aside every expectation placed upon you, what part of your life would you choose again—and what might you choose differently?
